Gameplay is one of the effective ways of active learning. Students will participate in group discussions and research and consider how to make projects more attractive to others. It is important that students feel successful. I am impressed by the idea of letting students know they are not scared to fail.

In the video of Historia, a student shared that he would ask, “how do you do” to their peers after seeing others’ performance. Instead of instructors telling students where they have mistakes, actively finding and learning from mistakes will allow students to remember the critical point in the long term and perform better next time.

I will add students as teachers to enhance the active learning experience for game learning. Students will be asked to make a creative video about new concepts to present to other students and will answer other students’ questions. In addition, students will research more information about ideas to teach others, where they will clearly understand new knowledge.

How to learn effectively and effectively

Three main ideas from the above video are:

  • Passive learning can be a crutch that supports inaction.
  • Practice is learning, but learning is not practice.
  • Practice focuses your energy on the progress.

From Merrill’s third and fourth principle, after demonstrating new knowledge, students should apply it as a reality.

Passive learning is more accessible for instructors to prepare for the teaching structures, and students can catch every detail. In addition, active learning will engage students’ learning interests. From my learning experiences, I used the passive learning method before the class to have a big picture of what I would learn in the following lessons. I also actively learn new knowledge during lectures and after class to understand lecture content better.
